Kuki leaders join Bodo stir for separate state

IMPHAL: Expressing solidarity with the Bodoland statehood movement, leaders of Kuki State Demand Committee (KSDC) are set to join Bodos' hunger strike scheduled to begin in Kokrajhar on Thursday.

A conglomerate of several Kuki civil organisations, the KSDC is demanding a separate 'Kuki State' in Manipur by carving out Kuki-inhabited areas in the five hill districts.

"A team led by our president Hejang Haokip and secretary K Gangte reached Kokrajhar on Wednesday to join the Bodos' indefinite hunger strike for creation of Bodoland," said S George Guite, information and publicity secretary of KSDC on Wednesday.
