Various quarters, including the Manipur authorities, are apprehensive over the details of the agreement meant to end the Naga problem that haven’t yet been publicised.
According to the Manipur government, Zeliang was misleading people since his party, the Naga People’s Front, is part of the NDA in power at the Centre.
On Saturday, while addressing the media in New Delhi, the Nagaland chief minister said: “There is a difference between active participation and consultation. Consultation with the north-eastern states was very much there before signing the Naga accord.”
Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam Gangmei, who is also the state’s home minister, refuted Zeliang’s views saying his remarks were just to gain the blessings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Besides Manipur, other Congress-ruled states in the region like Assam and Arunachal Pradesh have also raised objection to the fact that the details of the pact have not yet been divulged.
