Kuki intellectuals and leaders leave for Delhi for SoO talk

New Delhi, Jul 31 : It is yet to confirm whether the team of United Peoples' Front (UPF), one of the two underground umbrella organisations of the Chin-Kuki-Mizo community, has arrived New Delhi today or not.

However, a team of intellectuals and public leaders from the community will leave for the national capital on August 4 .

These intellectuals and public leaders will most probably meet Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju and pressure him to initiate political dialogue with the UPF.

The current one year term of Suspension of Operation (SoO) ends on August 22."There is no point keeping on extending the Suspension of Operation (SoO) every year without engaging in politcal dialogue," said a very well known intellectual from the community today who will be part of the team to Delhi on August 4 .

According to him, the team will most probably meet the Union Minister of State for Home on either August 6 or August 7 .

"Just extending SoO term for the sake of keeping cease fire without political talks is meaningless," the leader said, adding," The cadres will get frustrated if this thing continues for longer."A team of United Peoples Front (UPF), the umbrella Chin-Kuki-Mizo underground organisation was supposed to arrive here in New Delhi on Wednesday, July 30 for a meeting with the officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India.

The UPF team was to be headed by Araon Kipgen who is the convenor of UPF's representative for 'political dialogue' with the Government.With just 25 days left for the expiry of the present one year term of Suspension of Operation (SoO) with both the Kuki National Organisation (KNO) and United Peoples' Front (UPF) there have been hectic consultations going on among the leaders of KNO and UPF.

The current one year SoO term for both UPF and KNO ends on August 22 .
