Ibobi apologizes over wrong report on Lungthulien-Vanbawng road work

Imphal, Jul 30 : Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh apologized to the House on Monday that his budget speech claiming completion of the development of the 60 km-long road from Lungthulien (Manipur) to Vanbawng (Mizoram) taken up under the Inter State Connectivity Scheme (ISCS), was due to hasty preparation of the budget speech.

Ibobi tendered his apology after Tipaimukh constituency MLA and Hill Areas Committee, Manipur (HAC), Dr Chaltonlien Amo reacted to the report given by the Chief Minister on the first day of 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly session on July 11 .

Chaltonlien's reaction came while the Chief Minister was moving for passing the Manipur Appropriation (No-3) Bill, 2014 in the House on Monday.

The Tipaimukh MLA demanded the Chief Minister that he should clarify the matter in the House.

The Congress MLA also pointed out that the report given by Ibobi was incorrect and it has angered the public.

Apologizing to the House over the matter, Ibobi informed that only 10 km-long stretch of the Lungthulien to Vanbawng road has so far been completed and the remaining is under construction.

Chaltonlien also appealed to Manipur Government to look into the case over the arrest of several people in Tipaimukh by Mizoram Police in February last and the current month.
