Centre gives Rs.21 crore to six states for Manipur rural roads

New Delhi, Oct 1 : The central government has released Rs.116.88 crore to six states under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) to build rural roads, the rural development ministry said Friday.

The states are , Tripura (Rs.35 crore), Nagaland (Rs 25.13crore), Manipur (Rs.21 crore), the ministry said in a statement.

The sum had been released from a special window of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) to various agencies in the states.

PMGSY is a 100 percent centrally-sponsored scheme to provide road connectivity in rural areas. It envisages connectivity to all habitations with a population of 500 persons and above in the rural areas and about 250 persons and above in respect of the hilly states, tribal areas and desert areas through good and all weather roads.
