Power supply flops at Churachandpur Town

Churachandpur, Oct 1 : The State power department fails miserably here as the power it had provided on alternate nights and for four hours during the day could barely manage to light the indicator of stabilizers and the district's oldest commercial locality goes without power for over four months.

The power supply has turn from bad to worse few months back as the minimal supply the department delivered to the people at Hiangtam Lamka, the town's heart, fails to run even a laptop or a flat television – dubbed the low consuming gadgets, without a hiend stabilizer.

So wretched is the situation here that some establishments have even coined the idea of shifting their machinery closer to the power-house that could habitually tends to the Minister's residence at New Lamka whenever the Minister himself or any one of his kin stayed behind.

So erratic is the response of the department in addressing the hardship of the residents that, Zenhang Lamka, the oldest commercial locality in town have been enduring life without power for over four months now.

The transformer that attended to the locality broke-down way back in May end, a good one month before the FIFA world cup, but the department failed to fix before the world biggest sports' show nor do they until this day.

Sources close to people pursuing the case alleged that the locality had already paid Rs.50,000 to the concerned department for fixing the faulty transformer.

Now that it had been fixed, the department has again demanded an equivalent amount for installation on the pretext that they have to purchase the transformer 'oil' .

A collective effort beginning from the highest level appears to be the only option that would address the predicaments, and this would as well weed off the unethical conducts that has besieged the department.
