According to reports, the person died when the protesters attacked his vehicle. The victim, who was driving, sustained grievous injuries and succumbed to wounds on the way to the hospital.
Three other occupants of the vehicle, though, managed to escape with minor injuries. The protesters also set ablaze several other vehicles. They have enforced an indefinite blockade on the National Highway and called a 24-hour “Manipur bandh” from Thursday midnight.
The church was torched on Wednesday night. Patsoi Lamkhai has remained on the boil since Wednesday after suspected Kuki militants hadshot the two youth. Eight rebels have been arrested in connection with the killings. CM O Ibobi Singh condemned the killings and assured that the culprits would be brought to justice.
