Operation Smile India Week from today

GUWAHATI, Jan 20 – Operation Smile India, a medical charity working in the field of awareness and cure of cleft and other facial deformities in collaboration with North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) would organize NEEPCO- Operation Smile India Week in Guwahati from Monday.

The purpose of the event is to give priority to patients who are supported by NEEPCO and also to highlight the contributions that PSUs like NEEPCO are making towards the community.

The NGO started its work in Assam in January 2009 and till date has provided nearly 13,000 safe surgeries to people from the North Eastern States, including more than 500 patients from Meghalaya.

Operation Smile India provides its free services to the needy through a combination of outreach camps and the Centre at Guwahati. The Guwahati Comprehensive Cleft Care Centre was set up by Operation Smile India in February 2011 with support from the Government of Assam and the Sir Dorabjee Tata and Allied Trusts. In the last few years, the centre has established itself globally as a world-class cleft surgery and training centre, said a statement.

NEEPCO is a miniratna enterprise of the Government of India which works both in the thermal and hydro-power sector. Since its inception in 1976, NEEPCO has accorded top priority towards all round development of the people residing in and around its operational areas.
