Manipur abuzz with guv resignation rumours

Imphal: Rumours of Manipur governor Vinod Kumar Duggal resigning did the rounds on Wednesday evening. Senior officials in Imphal Raj Bhavan, however, said they have not received any official communication to this effect.

Duggal is currently staying at Manipur Bhavan, New Delhi.

Former home secretary and an IAS officer (1968 batch), he was appointed as Manipur's governor in December last year. After Kamla Beniwal was sacked as governor of Mizoram on August 6, Duggal was given additional charge of Mizoram.

If his resignation is confirmed, he will be the ninth UPA-appointed governor to vacate office since BJP came to power in May.
