Kuki Students’ Organisation, Delhi celebrated its 26th Freshers’ meet cum social function at Jesus and Mary College Auditorium, New Delhi on September 7.
The function was graced by union minister, Oscar Fernandes as the chief guest and Indian Youth Congress in-charge of Delhi, Harsh as the guest of honour.
The occasion was hosted by its functional president Mangneo Lhungdim, former president of KSO Delhi and current deputy director of Indo-Global Social Service Society, New Delhi.
According to KSO principal information secretary, Letginlen Doungel the union minister praised the North East students for their hardworking and studious. He was warmly accorded with a traditional shawl by KSO Delhi.
The function was blessed by pastor, Thongngam Haokip of Kuki Worship Service Gurgaon and it opened with the rendering of the song “Damsot hen KSO (Long Live KSO)” by a popular singer, Lamkholhing Haokip and Kimrose Vaiphei.
On the occasion, education department of KSO Delhi presented meritorious awards to 14 deserving students who had shown excellence in the past academic year of 2012.
In continuing with its tradition of honouring a person with Pu (L) Paojasei Singsit Award (first president of KSOD), the members of the Trustee Board presented the award posthumously to late Lamkhohen Misao.
In recognising the services of nobility towards the Kuki society as well as the North East community in Delhi, the KSO Delhi honoured also Bruce K. Thangkhal, media incharge of North East Helpline with a certificate of appreciation.
Mimin Stephen Mate, a first year student of BA (History) honours from Motilal Nehru College and Pinky Haolai, a first year student of BA (Phil) honours from Miranda House were adjudged the coveted Mr and Miss Fresher 2013 respectively.
