Imphal, Sep 9 :
Although the authority of the Assam Rifles is believed to have reported
to the Government of India that the process of constructing a base camp
by the Myanmarese Army at Haolenphai village along the Indo-Myanmar
border in Moreh has been stopped altogether, a temporary platoon base
camp of the Myanmarese Army has already come up and started functioning
at the exact spot.
According to reports received from Haolenphai village, well armed Myanmarese Army troopers around 40 of them are seen in the temporary platoon base camp.
The Myanmarese army often comes close to Haolenphai village for patrolling and claims to the villagers that Haolenphai is part of Myanmar.

The Myanmarese Army has even constructed fences along the road where the villagers of Haolenphai used to move around.
The villagers have been warned against venturing out by telling them that bombs have been planted across the newly constructed bamboo fence and it would explode if the villagers cross over it.
The frightened villagers have now stopped going along the road and their houses kept locked up throughout the day and they (villagers) spent their days and nights at Moreh, the report added.
The report further informed that the temporary platoon base camp of the Myanmarese Army has been constructed among the bushes and it is hard to identify the camp from far.
When the villagers, by chance, happen to come near the camp, the Myanmarese army would come out of the bushes and warned the villagers not to come closer.
The villagers of Haolenphai have expressed sadness and sorrow over the silent attitude of Manipur and the Indian Government even after the Myanmarese army has crossed over the border and constructed their base camp in a place which has been a part of Manipur since time immemorial.
Though they (villagers) have informed the Assam Rifles authority and Manipur Police at Moreh, no solid action has been taken up so far.
Even though the AR personnel know very well about this unwanted development along the border, they are remaining silent as they have been instructed by the Indian government to remain silent as it might hamper the cordial relation between Myanmar and India, villagers rued.
