Reigning Miss Bharat and Miss India North East, Lina Lamneilhing Chongloi, the "Unsung Beauty Queen" from a remote Hills district of Manipur was accorded a warm welcome at Tulihal Airport today morning around 11.30 by hundreds of her diehard fans, family members, near and dear ones particularly from the Sadar Hills Senapati District following a grant reception ceremony at her home town, Kangpokpi.

The red carpet reception ceremony for Lina Lamneilhing Chongloi was organized by Kuki Students' Organisation, Sadar Hills.

As the beauty queen was escorted by Kangpokpi Police in their vehicle to her home town from Imphal, people of Sadar Hills gave her a standing ovation besides chain of fans and supporters lining up along the NH-2 from Gamgiphai to Kangpokpi with festoon "Welcome Miss Bharat Miss India North East Lina Chongloi" .

At Kangpokpi, thousands of fans including students give a rousing reception.

Students displayed festoons inscribed with "Welcome Miss Bharat 2013", and "Welcome Miss India NE" to welcome her as Lina waved at them.

Kangpokpi Town Committee, Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organisation, Kang-pokpi Youth Club and KSO-SH held a warm reception ceremony at Kangpokpi Bazaar where Addl Deputy Commissioner Kangpokpi DK Thangboi Haokip, Addl SP Kangpokpi Zakir Hussain, KTC Chairman Chonkam, KWWO President K Hoinu and KYU Games and Sports Secretary Gogou have garlanded the beauty queen in the sea of supporters crowding around her.

From Kangpokpi Bazaar she was escorted upto her native village Haijang which is 5 km East of Kangpokpi where a simple religious reception ceremony was held.

Rev Kaingul Chongloi said a prayer for Lina Chongloi.

Thangminlen Kipgen, President Kuki Students' Organisation Sadar Hills expressed his discontentment over the alleged State Govt's discriminatory attitude towards Lina Chongloi.

The KSO president asked, "Why Lina Chongloi's achievement has been ignored by the SPF Govt led by O Ibobi Singh while the whole India and the world appreciated and recognised her achievement? Is it so because she is a tribal lady or she's from the hill district?" .

He added that there could be no reasons for the State Govt to ignore such a personality who brought so much laurels and fame for the State while appealing to the Govt to recognise and acknowledge the achievement of Lina Lamneilhing Chongloi at the earliest.

Meanwhile, speaking to a handful of media persons at the airport, Miss Lina Lamneilhing Chongloi expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the people of Manipur particularly the denizens of her home district and Haijang Village as well as the Kuki Students' Organisation for their support and love.

"I am so proud that there are so many people in my lovely State Manipur who care, love, and show concern and support to me, which I had never seen in my life," exclaimed Lina while adding that "I truly adore and represent Manipur" .

"I will again represent my State in the coming Miss Glory Universe-an International Beauty Pageant to be held at Paris and London and I will once again glorify my sweet Manipur and bring laurels and fame for my native State if God wishes", said Lina while also seeking unending and abundant the support and cooperation from the people of her native State.

A grant felicitation program for Lina Chongloi will be organised on Saturday, Sep 28 at Brig SK Sharma Playground by Lina's native village youth club, informed Lulun Chongloi, the club Gen Secretary while also soliciting everyone to take part in the occasion.
