Consultative meet on KSDC demand reaches Shillong

Imphal, August 26 2013: As part of its strategy to further the ongoing Kuki statehood demand movement in Manipur, series of consultative meetings on the theme, "The Current Political Scenario of the Kukis in Manipur" have been organised in Guwahati, Churachandpur and Shillong.

The Shillong programme was underway this evening during the time of the filing of this story.

Kuki State Demand Committee (KSDC) leaders after having had conducted a powerful consultative meeting in the south district of Manipur (Churachandpur) on last Saturday, organised a similar programme at Guwahati on Sunday.

In Guwahati, the event was held at Kuki Worship Service Organisation (KWSO) Hall which was hosted by KWSO and participated by Guwahati based Kuki Students Organisation (KSO), Kuki Inpi, Guwahati, Kuki Welfare Association, intellectuals, scholars and student leaders based in Guwahati.

KSDC chairman Hejang Haokip and its secretary K.Gangte were the resource persons of the programme.

During the programme, the participants expressed their opinions on the Kuki statehood demand in Manipur and exhorted for concerted effort to fructify the aspiration of the Kuki people.

In Shillong, the programme started this evening at around 6 pm and was attended by KSO-Shillong, Kuki Inpi-Meghalaya, Kuki Welfare Association-Meghalaya and well wishers.

The KSDC chairman and the KSDC secretary were the resource persons again in the Shillong event.

"Our chairman and our secretary (KSDC) will return to Imphal on August 30 and thereafter, we will convene a meeting to chalk out the next course of action," said KSDC leader George Guite.
