Imphal, Mar 28 : Following threat in connection with monetary demand imposed by two militant groups, all passenger services along Imphal to Saikul route has been suspended since the last two days causing great inconvenience to commuters.
According to a release of transports associations along the route, the proscribe Kuki Revolutionary Army Unification (KRA-U) and a KCP faction imposed huge monetary demands to the Saikul-Imphal Road Bus Owner Association.
It said the militants also posed a threat that any bus found plying along the road will be set ablaze apart from giving capital punishment to the bus owner defying the dictat.
Following the threats all passenger buses plying along the route has been suspended since March 25, it said.
Three different organizations of Kuki have since demanded withdrawal of the monetary demand at the earliest so that normal bus service can begin.
The three organizations (Kuki Innpi Saikul, Kuki Student Organisation (KSO-Saikul) and Kuki Women Union, Saikul) cautioned that failure to meet the demand would result in launching intense agitation.
Meanwhile, Thangkham Lupheng, president of Kuki Innpi, Saikul stated that the KRA-U had not served any extortion notice to the Bus Owners’ Association, Saikul.
