Churachandpur, March 28 : The much talked about Autonomous District Council, ADC, election will surely be held and a cabinet decision for the purpose has been taken, announced power minister, T Phungzathang at a function in Churachandpur today.
The minister was the chief guest at the ground breaking functions of Zogam art and cultural development association run by the district Congress ( I ) leader T Dongzakai located at Tangjam Road at the residential campus of the leader.
The minister reiterted that election notification will be issued from the 15 April next which will be followed by nomination filing, scrutiny apart from other related formalities of the election.
It is the wish of the cabinet to complete the election within the month of May without fail, the minister pointed out, adding government’s endeavour has been to empower the ADC and equip it with sufficient and effective power.
He further said the election in the district will in the second phases due largely to lack of adequate security at the disposal of the state for holding the election.
He the said the Centre is yet to sanction Rs 50 crores, and this amount is subject to holding of the election, adding this elction should strengthen unity of the people.
The minister has declared further that TN Haokip will donate Rs 1 lakhs, while T Manga Vaiphei and he would be contributing a matching amounts from their MLA funds.
The went on to say that the exhibition today has has more tribal antiques than the Tribal Research Centre in Imphal.
The occassion was presided by TN Haokip minister IPR , PHED, Tourism while T Manga Vaiphei was the guest of honour.
