Imphal, November 30 : The two-day long Tribal Folk Dance Festival organized by the state department of art and culture in collaboration with Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, Kolkata concluded here at Cultural complex near BOAT, Imphal concluded today.
The festival was kicked off yesterday with commissioner (art and culture) P Bhorot as chief guest at the inaugural function.
state member of the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, Kolkata Dr H Kamkenthang and state member of the North Eastern Cultural Centre, Dimapur, Paujairung Thaimei attended as president and guest of honour in the function.
Speaking at the inauguration function, P Bhorot said people of today should preserved cultures of the forefathers.
Expressing that concern over the mixing of cultural items with modern rocks, he said this amount to desecrate of the culture, instead of doing like this it is better not to do culture.
He also stressed the need for efforting to conserve the cultural dance forms which is on the verge of extinction.
The traditional culture of the state is to be help in strengthening the integrity of the state.
The festival not only for entertainment but it aimed at preserving age old cultures of the region, said Dr H Kamkenthang speaking as president over the function.
The festival will marked different cultures in one, like of different flowers in pot.

According to the organizers, the festival envisaged to preserve and promote most of the dying tribal folk dance forms of Manipur.
There are 32 recognized tribes in the state.
Most of tribes are inhabited in the nine district of Manipur and some pockets of valley district.
All these tribal communities have their identity, culture, dance, music, custom, etc.
which is unique in nature.
Most of these tribals communities have adopted Christian and as result, their culture is changing slowly neglecting their beautiful traditions and culture.
The programme has been made to suit with the basic objective of preservation and promotion of their beautiful tradition and culture, the organizers added.
