Kut season launched at Ganpijang village

IMPHAL, Oct 16: As in the past successive 44 years, the much awaited traditional post harvest festival christened as Gangpijang Chavang Antha Kut has been kick-off yesterday at Ganpijang village, Sadar Hills.

The formal observations of the day which was officially launched this morning was auspiciously graced by Y Baite SDC, Saikul block and Payang Haokip, social worker as chief guest and functional president respectively today.

The function was marked by artistic display of traditional dances and music like Khulkon Lam, Goshem Lam, Sutha Lam, Lamkuol etc, signifying a call for reflection on the rich heritage left behind by Kuki fore-fathers.

It may be stated that, unlike the State Level Kut celebrations, morning worship service was held with the village folks bringing their portion of crops, vegitables and fruits to the altar, as a mark of thanks giving to the Almighty God.

A didication as well as Biblical message based on Deuteronomy 26:10 "...behold, I have brought the firstfruits of the land, which thou, O Lord, has given me.." was given by head Decon of Gangpijang Baptish Church, T Ngamlun.

In fact, the enthusiactic competition between the Lom teams viz Ahshijolneng, Zonlhing, Lenchongboi, Muoltinchan in all the items both traditional ans modern besides games and sports, extempore speech, debates etc. heightened the excitement and spirit of the Kutters.
