New details emerge in CCpur women trafficking case

Churachandpur, Jul 20 : More details in the crafty trafficking case emerges with the district CWC taking the initiative of leading the investigation even as a woman has landed in police custody on similar charges while the two sisters in Rangoon were still awaiting rescue.

The twist emerges as Feli who was earlier accused of influencing the girls made a revealing statement and claim- ed that she was a victim herself and gave a detail account of her experience leading investigators to a woman king- pin.

Narrating her account (to The Sangai Express) today Feli said a woman identified as Thiangi Pawi, native of Tamu in Myanmar but married to a man in Rengkai village had promised her jobs in Singapore and accordingly took her to Tamu on May 22 .

She was taken to Tamu with her handler paying all the expenses as she was not permitted to take any money with her.

'I have been cheated all through.

First I was told that there are other girls who will join me at the Sumo counter but none turn-up; again I was told that some girls from the neighboring state of Mizoram would join me at Tamu.

Still there was no one to be seen there either,' recounted the 27 year-old-girl who claimed to have survived being sold to an agent inside Myanmar.

While looking for help in Tamu township she met Kapa, the accused in the two sisters case, who helped and brough her till Moreh the trading hub in the Indian side of the border.

Kapa while dropping her had reportedly informed that he was the real agent and not the woman who cheated on her.

She along with the girls was supposed to leave with Kapa but she decided otherwise after having a second thought of her earlier ordeal.

'He had helped me when I am badly in need of one and I have reason to suspect,' she said when asked why she had even think being on board once more.

She now feels fortunate not being with Kapa.

Otherwise she will be sharing the fate of the two sisters in Rangoon.

For a family ridden in poverty, the notion of giving ourselves and our family a decent life is often misleading us she said.

He account had led the Child Welfare Committee to Thiangi Pawi which eventually submitted a formal complaint to the police.

Meanwhile the Rengkai chapter of Hmar Women Association has reportedly taken Thiangi into cutody and handed her over to the Police last night.

She was produced before the CJM today and remanded into Police custody till 24 July, 2014 .

The CWC Chairperson Ricky Thanga today said Thiangi had already taken a girl from Thenmol village to Tamu some days back and that she apprehended while she is in the process of taking another girl from Sielmat village.

He further claimed that the two sisters in Rangoon are awaiting rescue as the agents had to be paid around 54,000 INR as they were reportedly sold to them for 5.20 lakhs in Myanmar's currency.
