North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council session adjourned

SILCHAR: The first session of the 11th North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) lasted just an hour on Friday. It was adjourned without conducting any business.

The session began at 11 am at the session hall of the council in Haflong, the headquarters of Dima Hasao district. It was presided over by Ngamrothang Hmar, the chairman of the council, Members of the ruling Congress and the opposition parties deliberated over issues relating to development, drinking water crisis and rehabilitation of surrendered cadres of different militant outfits. Opposition party members Mihir Gorlosa alias Jewel of DHD (J) and Athong Leinthang of Indigenous People's Party (IPP) had submitted a number of written questions earlier. However, NCHAC chairman Debojit Thaosen said he could not reply to the questions as the executive members of different departments of the councils were not selected yet.
