Violence erupted again at Dima Hasao, the Hill district of Assam. After the laying down of arms by DHD jewel faction, it was hoped that finally peace will arrive in the district. For nearly one year peace and harmony prevailed in the hill district as expected. But the recent uprising of Hill Tiger Force has again brought disturbance in the hill district.James Dimasa was one of the founder leaders of DHD-Jewel faction and former Home Secretary of the outfit. James played crucial role in bringing DHD-Jewel faction to the mainstream. James Dimasa was one of the two leaders, who were present there in the first round of peace talks with the State Govt. In September, 2009 James Dimasa, with 22 other cadres formed the DHD-James faction by splitting away from DHD-Jewel faction. In the year 2010 by laying down arms at an army camp at Manipur, James faction came into the mainstream. But on Thursday evening at 6 PM, James Dimasa was shot dead by HTF cadres at Longmang Basti, on his way to Haflong market from his home at Topdisa.

Meanwhile,
when the sensation of James’s murder was not over yet, HTF set ablaze a
Dimasa village, Chotolongren, 13 kms away from Haflong at around 1am of Thursday night.
In this incident 8 houses of total 28 houses were reduced to ashes.
Though HTF has claimed responsibilities of these attacks, which they
carried out on the orders of IPF, police has not yet succeeded in
arresting any HTF cadres involved in these attacks. The Chief Executive
Member (In-Charge) of Dima Hasao Autonomous Council has claimed that
police has also failed in controlling the situation.Claiming the
responsibilities of James murder and setting ablaze of Dimasa
village, Publicity Secretary of HTF Lunbe Kuki has sent a message to
NETV. The organization has said they have launched the attacks
protesting the proposed signing of accord between State Govt. and DHD.
