KUMHUR's posers to CM on Sadar hills

Imphal, Aug 6 : Demanding to know the reason behind the delay over solving the three decades old problem, Kuki Movement for Human Rights (KUMHUR) has asked Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh to come out with a clarification on the state of confusion prevailing over the issue of Sadar hills.

In an open letter, chairman of KUMHUR T Lunkim pointed out that the general understanding is that the State Government made recommendation to the Central Government for six hill districts in Manipur including Sadar hills district and the Parliament approved the proposal in 1971.Consequently, Chandel, Churachandpur, Sadar Hills, Senapati, Tamenglong and Ukhrul districts have been functioning on equal footing, same status, power and equal members since 1972 except for the unjust denial of Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police for Sadar Hills.

If there is any official documents that says that Sadar Hills is not a district, then the Chief Minister should produce it and if there is no such document, then it should be clarified to the public so that the present escalation of violence could be stopped immediate, KUMHUR demanded.
