The Newly elected MLA, Sri G.C. Langthasa expressed serious concern over the non-functioning of District Rural Development Agency and the five Block Development Block Offices of Dima Hasao district.
Sri Langthasa paid a surprise visit to the DRDA office, Haflong at 11 am to 12.45 PM today (Thursday) and instructed all the BDOs to shift their offices from Haflong to their respective HQs immediately.
Mentionable, that the Block Development Officers of Harangajao ITDP block, Mahur Block, Sangber block and the Maibang block are running their offices at Haflong since long on the plea of law and order situation. More over the DRDA was running with the executive engineer as the Project Director in charge and BDOs of Harangajao, Mahur , Maibang and Sangbar are running with officers in charge causing immense inconvenience to the poor villagers for whom theses Block offices were functioning.
Langthasa talking to the media persons said he was not at all happy at the deplorable condition of the DRDA which was the prime means and ways of the development for the rural and poor people. He also discloses that no worth mentioning work or scheme was done in the past few years and all statements made are false showing fake achievements report. Therefore he wanted to revive the DRDA and all the Block offices of the district. He disclosed that the Chairman of DRDA is the MLA himself but he was not informed and government notice was kept hiding by some unscrupulous person. He further said not only in the DRDA, in all most all the developmental departments no work culture was noticed during last few years.
When the Project Director, i/c Sri Manjil Kumar Bora contacted, he admitted that there are several posts of officers are lying vacant and BDOs are functioning at Haflong though they are supposed work in their respective HQs . He also informed that he will send all the BDOs to respective places within seven to 10 days.
