Mobile services affected in Manipur

Imphal, Apr 11 : Private mobile services have been disturbed in Manipur following threat from militants.

Those who sell recharge cards have also stopped supplying due to the fear of attack by militants, sources said.

Mobile advertisements festoons and boards were also pulled down, the sources added.

A mobile recharge seller said he could not risk his life so he had stopped selling recharge coupons.

Attacks on guards of mobile towers and offices are on the increase lately.

A particular militant outfit had also warned the mobile operators to close down.

According to All Manipur Airtel Workers Union most towers were not functioning hence subscribers were facing problems.

The problem is likely to continue until the standoff between mobile operators and the group is settled.

The services of state-owned BSNL was, however, not affected.
