Bomb attack on Haokip Travels proprietor denounced

IMPHAL, April 12 : Decrying the bomb attacked at the residence of former deputy Speaker and proprietor of Haokip Travel, TT. Haokip, yesterday at New Lambulane Imphal injuring his 18 year old daughter, various communities residing in the area staged a sit-in protest demonstration at New Checkon Bazar today.

Around 200 women protestors from various ethnic communities residing in an around the area took part in the protest.

Placards declaring "stop bomb attacks for defying monetary demand" "don`t explode bomb at residential area" "let us stop the trend of bomb attack" "let us live in peaceful co-existence" etc were displayed by the protestors.

Talking to the media, Mary Haokip, wife of, TT Haokip, revealed that a similar incident had occurred before in 2004.

She further said that an armed group imposed a monetary demands recently on her husband however it was not certain who was behind the demand.

In the meantime, the Kuki Movement for Human Rights, Kuki Students` Organisation Imphal strongly condemned the attacked.

A statement issued by the organizations stated that attacking unarmed individuals or families would not bring any solution to the revolutionary movement but would rather cause unnecessary pressures and psychological scars on the family and the local people.

They also demand clarification from the attackers and also appealed to the individual or organization to abstain from such incident in the future.
