The Young Paite Association has ex-communicated one senior Minister and one MLA from the Paite community on Thursday as it sought to implement the public boycott already announced by JAC and ATSUM on all tribal MLAs over the three anti-tribal Bills passed by the Manipur State Assembly on August 31.
Manipur Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing who is elected from Churachandpur AC and Parliamentary Secretary Vungzagin Valte who is from Thanlon AC, have been excommunicated for favouring the ‘anti-tribal Bills’ and for renouncing their people, according to the YPA, of which both are members.
The proclamation which is said to be operational until further notice, entails that the YPA will not co-operate nor offer any of its resources and manpower to the duo in the event of their bereavement or merriment. The YPA has in addition denounced all the tribal MLAs for feigning ignorance despite knowing fully well that the three Bills are anti-tribal and affirms that the agitation against these Bills which is ongoing until today will be continued as well.
They also condemned the killing of Thangliansiam, whose body was found hanging but bore severe injury marks, and demanded that the authorities concerned investigate the case and befitting punishments be awarded to those responsible. They also declared that no individual or organisation can be pinpointed for all activities during the people’s movement and affirmed to deal with it sternly if anyone attempts to do so.
