Moreh, Feb 3 : Ch Ngamthang Mate, the President of Kuki Chiefs' Association, Moreh (KCAM) Block has given a dateline of February 8 for the inclusion of the 11 villages of Sibong Khudengthabi presently included in Moreh constituency and another eight villages whose status is not clear, in Sibong Khudengthabi Constituency.
Failing which, the Association will call a 48 hour bandh on NH 39 from February 9 to February 10.Even after this, if the government is not moved, several other forms of agitation will be launched, warned the president of the Association.
As per the notification of the government of Manipur and publication of the same in the gazette, 11 villages of Sibong Khudengthabi have been included in the Moreh constituency.
The government of Manipur considering of the problems which will be faced by the villagers within Sibong Khundengthabi, requested the President of the Assn, not to include these villages in Moreh constituency.
Most of the villages are at a distance of 10 to 30 kms from Moreh and considering the state of roads, it is very difficult for the villagers to come all the way to Moreh for voting.
Further, the President while talking to this correspondent, urged the Government of Manipur to let the people know where those 8 villages of Sibong Khudengthabi are included and include the same in Sibong Khudengthabi constituency.
Further Sibong Khudengthabi constitugncy had 3 only polling stations, namely, Kwatha , Khongkhang, and T.Bongmol and with the increase in population, a written request was put up to the Government of Manipur to add another 4 polling booth in Moreh ADC.
But the government totally disregarding the written appeal has fixed the polling station at its sweet will which is not at all convenient for the people.
Ch Ngamthang Mate, President, Moreh Block Chiefs Association warned that no order on new polling stations which are not convenient for the people should be issued, stating Moreh A.D.C.has already chosen sites which are just right places for polling stations.
