Imphal, September 9: Directorate of adult education, state literacy mission authority, Manipur have successfully given adult education to 1,74,698 adults, 64,366 males and 1,10,332 females, said a statement issued by the directorate at the International Literacy Day celebration held at JN Manipur Dance Academy hall, Imphal on Tuesday.
International Literacy Day was celebrated on September 8 all over the world including Manipur.
In the function organized by the directorate of adult education, Manipur five officers of the department were presented badges and shawls for their distinguished services in the literacy programmes.
The function was graced by E Dijamani Singh, director of Manipur pollution control board, KK Chhetry, IAS, commissioner (A.E), and B Jayantakumar Sharma, retired station director, AIR Kohima as chief guest , president and guest of honour respectively.
