IMPHAL, Sept 9 : Various Kuki organization of the Chandel district have questioned the relationship of the CNPO and ANTA and the former Chandel DC, Devesh Deval.
In connection with the transfer of DC Chandel, a press meet was held today at Molnom Village, Chandel district today, which was jointly organized by the Kuki Chief Association Chandel, Kuki Welfare Association Chandel, Kuki Peoples’ Forum, Kuki Women Human Rights, Kuki Sporting Association and Thadou Students Association.
Nehthang Haokip, president Kuki Chief Association, said that the CNPO and ANTA did not allow the newly transfered DC Chandel, H. Deleep, to enter his office as they did earlier in the case of the former DC Devesh Deval while he tried to take charge as DC.
Stating that the two organizations did the same treatment to Devesh Deval when he was about to take charge, and today the organizations are stopping the transfer of Devesh Deval, Nehthang asked what the reason behind stopping the transfer of Devesh Deval was and whether there was any hidden relationship between the CNPO and the former DC.
There are about 2 lakhs population in Chandel district inhabited by more than 20 different tribes and the office of the DC should be situated at a place easily accessible to all section of the society, he said adding the DC office currently at the Chandel District headquarter, Japhou Bazaar should be shifted to a place like Molnom between Lamkang Centre and Kotlenphai which would be easier for all the tribes.
